Bio
Jimin first started playing golf at the age of 13 and credits God, her mother, brother David and grandmother for their support in all she does. Additionally, coaches Jim Flick and Perry Edinger are her two biggest influences in golf.
Kang captured many amateur awards in the late 90s and was an All-Pac 10 selection in college at Arizona State University in 2000-2002. After school, Kang qualified for the tour on her first attempt in 2003.
Jimin had a strong first year on tour in 2004 with eight top-10 finishes, including two wins on the Futures Tour. Her strong play resulted in Kang topping the touraAAs money list aA” thus earning the award of 2004 Futures Tour Player of the Year and exempt status for the 2005 LPGA season.
The following year in 2005, Jimin became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the LPGA Corning Classic, where she recorded her first LPGA career hole-in-one during the final round; carded a career-low 62 the next week at the ShopRite LPGA Classic; recorded second career LPGA hole-in-one during the first round of the State Farm Classic.
